Art

• The Greensburg Art Center and the Pittsburgh Print Group will sponsor a joint exhibit about printmaking Sept. 14 through Oct. 19 at the art center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. A free opening reception will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14. Refreshments will be served. A tour of the exhibit and demonstration of the printmaking process will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 and workshops in printmaking will be offered. Details: 724-837-6791 or greensburgartcenter.org.

• Latrobe Art Center will host the 15th annual Mister Fred Rogers Fine Arts Juried Exhibition through Sept. 28 at the center, 819 Ligonier St., Latrobe. The event will showcase 75 pieces in a variety of mediums. Details: 724-537-7011 or latrobeartcenter.org.

Special events

• A Children’s Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 14 at YWCA Westmoreland County Used Bookstore, 424 N. Main St., Greensburg. University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will provide children’s activities, including craft stations, face painting, outdoor games and story time. There will be a meet and greet with local authors Linda Guest-Peters and Faerie Grace. The Salvation Army of Delmont canteen truck will be on site and guests will be served hot dogs, juice boxes or water and snack cakes. Free ice cream cups will be given to those in attendance, and children will receive a complimentary book from the YWCA’s used book store. One laptop will be given away during the event. Church News

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a community picnic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the church, 554 Stanton Ave., Southwest Greensburg. There will be food and games. A dunk tank with the pastor, meter maid and Sunday school teacher will raise funds for Southwest Greensburg police and fire departments and Mutual Aid Ambulance Service of Greensburg. Festival

• The Glass City Heritage Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14 on the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue in Jeannette. There will be music, food, children’s games, pumpkin painting, balloon animals, face painting, crafters, vendors, caricatures and more. A glass blowing demonstration by the Pittsburgh Glass Center will be from noon to 3 p.m.

Fundraisers

• E.C. Cruisers will host its 30th annual Cruisin’ to Help the Kids car cruise from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 15 at 814 Lanes and Games, 4589 Route 136, Hempfield. There will be a DJ, bake sale, raffles, a ticket auction, food and 50-50. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. and trophies will be awarded at 3:30 p.m. Vehicle fee: $10. • Latrobe Center for Active Adults will have a bingo fundraiser at noon Sept. 14 at the center, 15 Avenue C, Latrobe. Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served. • Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Fridays in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Players younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoke-free venue. Food will be available and there will be a 50-50 and instant bingos. Lecture

• A history lecture will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Bushy Run Battlefield’s museum, 1253 Route 993 in Penn Township. Robert Nipar, director emeritus of the Braddock Road Preservation Association, will discuss the role of British engineers in the French and Indian War, which took place from 1754 to 1763. Admissionis $15 for the public and $10 for members of the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Meetings

• The Westmoreland County/Laurel Highlands chapter of the American Field Service high school student exchange program will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the One Room Schoolhouse, on the grounds of AK Hutchinson Elementary School, 810 Welty St., Southwest Greensburg. New students from Japan, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey and Poland and guests from Hungary, Turkey, Pakistan and Slovakia will be welcomed. Public welcome. • The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Sept. 14 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be at noon and the meeting will be at 1 p.m. Leslie Yoder will present a program about George Washington, the Whiskey Rebellion and the connection to the Constitution.

Nature

• Protect PT will host an event for children about monarch butterflies from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the group’s community education center, 3344 Route 130, Harrison City. There will be an educational session and children will tag and release the butterflies. Cost: $12. Reservations required. Reservations and details: protectpt.info/monarchs.
