Art

• The annual free Members Show at Greensburg Art Center “A Sense of Awe” will open Jan. 20 and continue through March 1. A free opening reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 20 at the center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. Exhibits will include paintings, photographs and fabric media. Fundraisers

• A pancake breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 20 at the Greensburg Masonic Center, 349 Donahoe Road, Hempfield. Menu: pancakes, waffles, sausage, fruit cup, coffee and juice. Cost: $10; children 5 to 11, $5. Proceeds will benefit the lodge.

• The Disciples Hands Ministry at Greensburg Church of the Brethren will have a soup and sandwich sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20 at the church, 554 Stanton Ave., Southwest Greensburg. Cost: a variety of soups, $7 per quart; hot sausage sandwiches, $6. Proceeds will be used to feed the hungry.

• The Holy Name Society of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, will host an all-you-can-eat omelet breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 21 in the church social hall, Summit Street. There will also be a 50-50 raffle. Cost: $10; age 3 to 12, $3; younger than 3, free.

• A winter breakfast and bake sale will be from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 21 at St. James Church, 306 St. James Lane, New Alexandria. Menu: ham, sausage, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, juice, coffee and tea. Cost: $10; age 6 to 12, $5; 5 and younger, free. There will be a basket raffle. Sponsored by the church Holy Name and Rosary Altar societies. Details: 724-668-2829.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.

• The Westmoreland Heritage and Five Star trails will sponsor a comedy dinner night Feb. 10 at Colton Hall, 3100 Blocks Road, Claridge, Penn Township. Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost: $35, includes dinner. The show will feature professional touring comedians, 50-50 drawings, a basket raffle and cash bar. Must be 21. Advance tickets required; no tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets: 724-830-3950 or stop in at the Lamplighter Restaurant, Delmont, or Parkside Perk, Trafford. Proceeds will benefit the ongoing maintenance of the Westmoreland Heritage and Five Star trails.

Meetings

• The board of directors of the Greensburg College Club will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg.

Senior Citizen News

• Irwin Senior Activity Center will celebrate National Winnie the Pooh Day at 10 a.m. Jan. 18 at the center in First Methodist Church, 310 Oak St. An ice cream social and trivia contest will be at noon. Winter vegetable bingo will be at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 23. The center will close at 11 a.m. Jan. 24 because of a blood drive. Details: 724-787-1760 or mumsest@aol.com.

• A Seniors for Safe Driving class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 15 at the YMCA of the Laurel Highlands, 490 Bessemer Road, East Huntingdon. The class is PennDOT approved and for drivers who are at least 55 years old. Safe drivers can receive a 5% discount on auto insurance for three years. Cost:$16.
