Westmoreland County posts 155 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths
The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Saturday reported 155 new cases of coronavirus in Westmoreland County.
Of the new covid-19 cases, 97 are confirmed and 58 are probable.
Saturday’s addition puts the seven-day average at 134 cases; the county reported 119 cases on Friday. The high of the week was on Thursday when 207 cases were posted.
Two additional deaths were reported, increasing the death toll to 133.
There have been 15 deaths reported since Sunday with a high of six deaths reported Wednesday. There were also 15 deaths reported last week; 20 deaths were reported two weeks ago.
The county’s total cases are now at 5,912.
The recent positives come from a batch of 379 tests, yielding a positivity rate of a whopping 25.6%.
The county has averaged about 418 tests per day this week.
Six days this month have reported triple-digit case counts.
In October, there were four days of triple-digit cases, including a high of 148 cases posted Oct. 15.
