The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Saturday reported 7 new cases of covid-19 in Westmoreland County, continuing a week of relatively low case counts.

No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 49 — where it has remained for 17 days.

The county last reported a death from the virus on Aug. 19. There were three deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county in August.

The county’s total cases are now 1,868. The seven-day average for the county is around 9.5 cases.

The county posted a high of 18 new cases on Wednesday; Tuesday was the week’s low of four.

The county hasn’t seen any days reach at least 20 cases since Aug. 22.

Through the month of August, Westmoreland County had reported more than 20 new cases only once, when it reported 23 on Aug. 8.

By contrast, in July, the county recorded 20 or more cases 23 times — nine of which were 30 or more cases.
