Westmoreland County adds 20 new coronavirus cases
Westmoreland County saw 20 new cases of covid-19 added to its total Saturday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported.
No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 49.
The county last reported a death from the virus on Wednesday. There have been three deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county in August.
The county’s total cases are now 1,716 with 1,664 confirmed and 52 probable. The seven-day average for the county is 16 cases.
This is the second time this week the county reported 20 new cases, matching Thursday’s total.
Throughout the month of August, Westmoreland County has only reported more than 20 new cases once, when it reported 23 on Aug. 8.
By contrast, in July, the county recorded 20 or more cases 23 times — nine of which were 30 or more cases.
