Westmoreland County adds 18 coronavirus cases, no new deaths

Westmoreland County added 18 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday after three straight days of single-digit cases.

The new cases bring the county’s total to 1,837, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. There were no new deaths reported, leaving the county’s total at 49 where it’s remained since Aug. 19.

There were 237 new tests added Wednesday for a positivity rate of 7.59%. The county’s overall positivity rate sits at 4.65% for the nearly 40,000 tests administered since March.

The seven-day average for new cases sits at 11. The county’s seven-day average has been in double digits every day since June 24.

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, there are currently three covid-19 patients hospitalized in Westmoreland County, with none using ventilators.
