The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Saturday reported 14 new cases of covid-19 in Westmoreland County.

No additional deaths were reported, leaving the death toll at 50 — where it has remained since Thursday.

Prior to that, the county last reported a death from the virus on Aug. 19. In total, there were three deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county in August.

The county’s total cases are now 2,046. The seven-day average for the county is 12 cases.

The county posted a high of 18 new cases on Thursday; Tuesday had the week’s low, with eight.

The county hasn’t seen any days higher than 20 cases this month, though, it did see that total twice — Sept. 6 and 11.

Through the month of August, Westmoreland County had reported more than 20 new cases only once, when it reported 23 on Aug. 8.

By contrast, in July, the county recorded 20 or more cases 23 times — nine of which were 30 or more cases.
