One new case of covid-19 was reported Tuesday in Westmoreland County, bringing the countywide total to 442.
Deaths remained unchanged at 38, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha has not updated his county death total since May 7. The coroner’s website is reporting 32 deaths and says it will be updated only when a new case is reported to the office.
According to Bacha, those who died included 15 men and 17 women between the ages of 61 and 109. The average death age was 83.
Bacha said 25 of those deaths were confirmed by positive testing and seven weren’t tested and presumed by symptoms. All the people who died were white.
The number of confirmed and probable cases of the coronavirus in Allegheny County increased by 11 to 1,816 Tuesday, while no new deaths were reported. The county was reporting 150 deaths, while the state reported 160 deaths in Allegheny County. County officials have said the reason for the difference is in the state’s reporting databases. The county has access to only one of the two systems from which the state collects its data.
There have been 68,637 total cases and 5,152 deaths statewide.
