West Hempfield Elementary School students raise money for American Heart Association
West Hempfield Elementary School students raised $12,000 for the American Heart Association.
The Jump Rope for Heart program encouraged the Hempfield Area School District kids to compete in daily challenges that lead to a healthy lifestyle, taught them jump rope skills and gave them a chance to learn how the heart works. Through the program, kids asked family and friends for donations that would go toward the non-profit organization.
According to the Jump Rope for Heart website, the students completed daily challenges to accomplish their goals including exercising for one hour per day, limiting sugar drinks and choosing water and completing at least one good deed every day.
Through the online account made for the school, childen earned different badges each time another person made a donation in their name.
