In this file photo, Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County crews repair a waterline.

Crews finished repairing a waterline break along Edna Road in Hempfield on Saturday night, according to the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County.

The waterline break was reported at about 3 p.m. Friday, leaving about 60 customers without water service. The repair was completed around 7:30 Saturday evening, according to MAWC spokesman Matt Junker.

“We (needed) to replace a section and put a valve in,” Junker said on Saturday.

The break occurred near the intersection of Edna Road and Route 136.

“It’s a 2-foot pipe, so it’s substantial,” Junker said. “It’s pretty deep, and it’s a complicated replacement.”

Water buffaloes for those affected by the break, along with bottled water, were available at the Adamsburg Fire Department, 495 Edna Road in Hempfield.

MAWC regularly updates its leak and projects map at MAWC.org.
