The United States Postal Service in Greensburg is hosting a job fair next week to fill immediate openings.

Scheduled for next Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greensburg office, 238 S. Pennsylvania Ave, the event will help to hire workers for the holidays.

“The Postal Service is preparing now for another busy holiday season, as online shopping and shipping continue to increase and package growth expands,” a release reads. “Right now, we are looking for committed and motivated individuals to join us in our mission of service to your local community and the nation through the holidays and beyond.”

In all, the organization is looking to fill the positions of postal support employees, city carrier assistants, rural carrier associates, mail handler assistants and tractor trailer operators. Starting salaries range between $16.87 and $23.74 per hour. Available positions include full-time, part-time and seasonal work.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, postal service workers last year made an average of $51,150.

During the event, USPS personnel will be on-site to provide information about open position and to answer questions. Applications must be submitted online at usps.com/careers.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 and pass a drug screening and criminal background check. Applicants must also be able to work weekends and holidays.

“Accepting a position with the United States Postal Service is the first step to starting a long, fulfilling career with a dynamic, forward-thinking organization committed to delivering for the American people,” the release reads.

Full job descriptions as well as responsibilities, requirements and benefits information can be found on the postal service’s website.
