Used book sale slated at New Alexandria Public Library
Book lovers are invited to shop for bargains beginning Wednesday at the New Alexandria Public Library.
The library will hold its fifth annual used book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Aug. 23 and 10 a.m. to 2p.m. Aug. 24 in Keystone Plaza, at the intersection of routes 22 and 981.
Books, DVDs and movies will be for sale, with books priced at $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for paperbacks and 25 cents for children’s titles.
On Aug. 24, a bag of items will cost $2.
The library, which is preparing to mark its 100th anniversary, has about 10,000 items in its collection, with access to additional titles through the Westmoreland Library Network. Computers provide internet access.
The library also is home to the Derry Area Historical Society’s Family and Community History Research Center. Resources available to assist with research include family trees, community histories, cemetery records, local tax and census records and land patent maps for the Derry area — including New Alexandria and Derry borough and township.
Regular hours at the library are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
