The Air Force recognized the Hempfield Township Parks and Recreation department with a plaque.

The Hempfield Township Parks and Recreation department was nationally recognized by the United States Air Force.

According to Aaron Siko, parks and recreation director, the Air Force is allowed to use township facilities at no charge, including fields, pavilions and the athletic complex. The Air Force uses the facilities for physical fitness activities, new recruit meetings and family picnics.

Staff Sgt. Brittany Fenn and Major Jason Smith presented a plaque that reads, “Presented to Hempfield Parks and Recreation for your continued support to the Air Force mission.”

Last March, the township was presented a certificate as an honorary recruiter for the “department’s patriotism and support of the Air Force,” Siko said.
