A married couple was arrested Tuesday after Trafford police said they were running a prostitution service and two “Johns” claimed to pay for sex there.
The “Johns” told investigators that they paid $150 per session at the Fairmont Avenue home after booking a woman through online escort services, according to court papers.
Kayla M. Wargo, 35, and Robert E. Wargo, 53, are charged with several counts each of prostitution.
Authorities said they were tipped off about the Wargos in early March. Police reported reviews posted to the online escort ads indicated that Robert Wargo became violent during some of the encounters. They recognized Kayla Wargo in photos purporting to be “Sara” in the listings.
Borough police set up surveillance and noticed numerous vehicles visiting the house during the day. Authorities stopped the two “Johns” after spotting them leaving the house on separate occasions. Both admitted to being there for sex after contacting Kayla Wargo upon seeing her advertisement, and they said they had previously visited her, according to court papers. Police said text messages between one of the men and Kayla Wargo discussed a sexual encounter while Robert Wargo told him to lie about the reason he was at the house if anyone stopped him.
Both suspects were being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. Kayla Wargo’s bond was set at $10,000 and her husband’s was $1,000, according to online court records. Neither had an attorney listed. Preliminary hearings are set for April 18.
Prosecutors are seeking to revoke Kayla Wargo’s probation on a 2021 drug paraphernalia possession charge, according to online court records.
