Thursday food truck and music nights continue in Jeannette
The summer slate of Concerts and Food Truck Thursdays will continue July 21 in downtown Jeannette with an array of food vendors, a beer garden and music by Twisted Fate.
Now in its fourth year, the event takes place every other week through Sept. 1, rain or shine.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., food trucks will line the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue and South Fifth Street.
A portion of Clay Avenue will be sectioned off for a beer garden, where beer and wine will be available to those 21 and older.
The band will set up in the Elliott Group amphitheater at Clay and South Fifth.
“We’ve had up to 1,000 people attend,” said Carole Babish, president of Jeannette Business Association, which hosts the events. “We’ve been telling (the vendors) to bring a lot of food.”
Babish expects many people also show up for the music, which features well-known acts from around the area.
Some food vendors will be present at all the events, and others will set up on alternating weeks. Regular vendors include Candy’s Corner Deli, Ketter’s Restaurant, Ash & Kris Kitchen and Tin Shack BBQ.
“We’ll have our local staples and others coming from Pittsburgh and other areas,” Babish said.
The extras include Taquito’s Food Truck, Chicago Dog, Hoshi Food Truck, Big Black Grill, Dad’s Mobile Grub, Firehouse Subs, Elegant Catering and Little E’s Pizzeria.
Diners can finish with something sweet from regular vendors Kona Ice and Heavenly Cupcakes, with McFeely’s Ice Cream Truck, Steel City Chimneys and Sweets for the Street adding options on other dates.
Beverages from Sobel’s Obscure Brewery and Bella Terra Winery will be available in the beer garden.
The music lineup for the rest of the summer includes Front Page, Aug. 4; Gary Pratt with Kate Szallar, Aug. 18; and Saddle Up, Sept. 1.
Proceeds from a 50/50 raffle will be split between the winning ticket-holder and a local nonprofit organization.
Streets are blocked off for the event, and parking is free throughout downtown Jeannette.
No bicycles, skateboards or pets are allowed in the festival area.
