Things to do in Westmoreland County: Dec. 24-26
Christmas Eve services
Churches across the area will open their doors for Christmas Eve services Friday. For those without a regular church home, there are plenty of ways to find a service to attend.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, which includes parishes in Armstrong, Fayette, Indiana and Westmoreland counties, has a search page for all Mass times on its website at dioceseofgreensburg.org.
You also can call or visit the website of a church in your area or of your denominational preference, or even search the internet for Christmas Eve services “in (your town)” or “near me.”
Lights, camera, action!
Sometimes, there’s a letdown when the last Christmas present is opened. We look at each other and say, “What next?”
For many folks, it’s traditional to leave the wrapping paper on the floor and go to the movies on Christmas afternoon. Westmoreland County movie fans are fortunate to have holiday weekend options to satisfy their film fix:
• The website for the Diamond Theatre of Ligonier lists screenings of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. For information, visit diamondtheatre.com.
• The Latrobe 30 Theatre & Cafe is closed Christmas day, but has early Friday screenings of “Sing 2” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and Sunday times for both movies from late morning through evening.
Multiple movie ticket websites list specific show times for the venue in the Latrobe 30 Plaza off Route 30. For information, search “Latrobe 30 Theatre & Cafe.”
• AMC Classic Westmoreland 15 theater behind Westmoreland Mall is open all weekend, with multiple movies and screening times beginning around noon and continuing through the evening
There should be something for all ages and interests, beginning with the animated “Encanto” for younger viewers, “Sing 2,” and “West Side Story” for musical lovers and “Nightmare Alley” for thriller fans. Of course, “Spider-Man” is there, too.

Here we go, Steelers
There’s strength in numbers, so the saying goes. If you’d like to join other fans in sending the Steelers good vibes for a Sunday victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, here are two options:
• The Sports Social & Steel City restaurant at Live! Casino Pittsburgh at Westmoreland Mall will host a Black and Yellow Hour beginning one hour prior to the 4:25 p.m. kickoff. There will be exclusive specials during that time, along with a Gametime Bundle that includes specials during the game.
Tables should be reserved via opentable.com.
• The “Super Genius” of Pittsburgh sportscasters, Mark Madden, will be present for a watch party beginning at 4 p.m. at Marino’s American Eatery, 106 West Point Drive, Hempfield.
Madden, who writes a column for the Tribune-Review, will offer his often-controversial comments before the game and at halftime. There also will be a giveaway of sports memorabilia.
For information, call 724-216-5735 or check out Marino’s American Eatery on Facebook.
