North Huntingdon property owners will not pay additional real estate taxes to operate the township government next year, based on the preliminary spending plan officials adopted this week.

The township commissioners Wednesday approved a preliminary general fund budget of $14.7 million that holds the line on real estate taxes at 11.55 mills. They authorized the advertisement of the budget, with final approval set for next month.

The tax revenue from the millage the township levies is divided into three funds — 9.23 mills for the general fund; 1.32 mills for the fire service fund; and 1 mill for the capital reserve fund.

North Huntingdon was able to balance the budget by using about $860,000 of its American Rescue Plan allocation.

The proposed general fund expenditures for 2023 are only about 1% more than this year, according to Harry Faulk, township manager.
