Summer concert series returning to Hempfield Park
After being canceled last year because of the covid-19 pandemic, Hempfield is bringing back its summer concert series.
Scheduled to begin May 29, the series will include concerts from several area bands, as well as shows from Greensburg-based Stage Right theater group. The series, which will be subject to covid mitigation orders like face masks and social distancing, runs through Sept. 18 at Hempfield Park’s amphitheatre.
“We are looking forward to a full slate of shows this year,” said Aaron Siko, director of parks and recreation for the township.
Siko noted that lawn seating will permit people to spread out. There will not be any temporary or permanent seating this year due to the pandemic. Hand sanitation stations will be placed around the amphitheatre as well as signage that will reflect current covid restrictions.
This will be the second concert series held by the township since the amphitheatre opened in 2019.
The concerts, which begin at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted, are free to attend and do not require tickets. The Stage Right performances, however, will require tickets that can be purchased on the organization’s website.
