State officials: Westmoreland adds 9 new covid cases, no new deaths
Westmoreland County on Friday had nine new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases to 483, according to Pennsylvania health officials.
No new deaths from the virus were reported in Westmoreland. State officials continued to report 38 deaths, while county coroner Kenneth Bacha reports 32 deaths as of May 7. Bacha is updating figures only when a new case is reported to his office.
Westmoreland is one of the counties that shifted into the green phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s reopening plan last Friday. All of the state’s 67 counties are in the yellow or green phase.
State officials on Friday reported 49 more covid-19 deaths and 686 additional cases, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 77,999.
A total of 6,162 people have died from the virus. More than 488,000 have tested negative. More than 12,000 of those negative tests are from Westmoreland County.
