Westmoreland County Treasurer Jared Squires takes his oath of office at the county courthouse in Greensburg in December 2019.

Westmoreland County Treasurer Jared Squires announced he will run for a fourth term in office.

Squires, 45, a Republican from Mt. Pleasant Township, was first elected in 2011 and reelected in 2015 and 2019.

“I will continue to bring my experience, knowledge and passion for public service to the position of Westmoreland County treasurer,” Squires said. “I am committed to providing the highest level of financial stewardship and transparency, while keeping the focus on the needs of our constituents.”

As treasurer, Squires oversees the county office responsible for the county’s deposits. It collects hotel taxes and sells various licenses.

He also serves as chairman of the county’s record improvement board and is a member of the county’s retirement board.

Squires has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Drexel University and in accounting from Franklin University. He also holds a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Florida.

He resides with his wife, Evianne, and their three children.
