Vietnam War veterans will be remembered and honored Aug. 13 in a daylong program at the Smithton American Legion Park at Lions Drive and Peer Street.

Gold Star families — those who lost a loved one during the war — will be honored during a ceremony at 1 p.m., with retired Army Sgt. Major James Hill, a Vietnam War veteran and post 9/11 veteran, as the guest speaker.

The Smithton American Legion Post 790 will recognize Vietnam War veterans at the park next to the post, where food, drink and music will be available.

The Traveling Vietnam Wall, listing the names of those who died in the war, and the 9/11 Wall will be at the Smithton Little League Ballfield on Lions Drive, said Post 790 Commander Robert Prah.

For more information, contact the post at 724-872-6072.
