Single-lane squeeze on Route 119 in Youngwood included in PennDOT traffic alerts
A long-term lane restriction in Youngwood is set to begin Monday, along with a brief road closure in Mt. Pleasant Township and a traffic restriction in West Newton, according to PennDOT.
Traffic in Youngwood will be limited to a single lane on a section of Fourth Street (Route 119 southbound), to allow for drainage work. The restriction may continue into next spring and will apply to the left lane, between Overhead Bridge Road and Hillis Street.
Also in Youngwood, closure of a portion of Depot Street is slated to continue until Oct. 25, likewise resulting from drainage work. The closure is in effect between Third Street (Route 119 northbound) and Jacks Run Road, with motorists being detoured along Trolley Line Avenue and Third and Fourth streets.
A section of Ankney Hill Road, in Mt. Pleasant Township, also will be closed, starting Monday and continuing until Oct. 25.
The closure, between Route 982 and Strouble Road, will allow forborings to prepare for a proposed bridge replacement.
A detour will be in place using Route 982, Heinman Road and Shady Lane.
Single-lane restrictions will affect West Newton traffic crossing the Route 136 bridge over the Youghiogheny River. Those restrictions will be in place between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, during a routine inspection of the bridge.
Work schedules for the various PennDOT projects are subject to weather conditions.
