Several fall events planned for Hempfield Park
Officials are gearing up to make Hempfield Park a hub for activities this fall.
Two events are scheduled to take place next month at the park, including the Fall Family Night and Trunk or Treat.
Fall Family Night is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature a bonfire, hayride and pumpkin decorating.
“Fall Family Night is a great opportunity for families to come together to celebrate the season,” said Marissa Haynes, program coordinator. “Fun for all ages is guaranteed, from candy bar bingo to a magic show. Some other fun activities will include face painting, balloon making, pumpkin painting and a small hay maze.”
The event is free for township residents; however, registration is required.
Registration can be completed online by going to hempfieldtwp.com, clicking on “Parks and Recreation” and then the “Register for a program or event” tab. Registration also can be completed in person at the Hempfield Township Athletic Complex.
Last year, as capacity limits were still in place to help mitigate the spread of covid-19, township leaders asked that household participants be limited to children and their parent or guardian, according to a post from the event.
In addition to the Fall Family Night, Trunk or Treat is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24.
Those attending can decorate the trunk of their vehicles and pass out candy. Prizes will be awarded for trunk decorating as well as for costumes. The event is free; however, registration is required for each car and participant.
Similar to past years, trick-or-treating will take place on Halloween (a Sunday) from 6 to 8 p.m.
