Run/walk to set stage for Latrobe Fourth festivities

Runners in the 5K race cross the finish line at Latrobe’s Memorial Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018 for the 24th annual Latrobe Turkey Trot. Runner will return to the stadium Friday for the annual Latrobe Fourth of July 5-Mile Run and 2-Mile Walk.

Preliminary activities for the annual Latrobe Fourth of July Celebration will head into the home stretch Friday, with the event’s 5-mile run and 2-mile walk.

Beginning and ending at Latrobe’s Memorial Stadium, the event is set for 7 p.m., rain or shine, with registration starting at 5 p.m. along Irving Avenue.

The race route follows several streets through the city, with water stops and first aid available. Dogs aren’t permitted.

Registration at the event costs $23.

The race is sponsored by Racer’s Sports Bar and Grill. Awards will be presented to the top three runners and walkers in each of eight age divisions.

The celebration’s midway activities are set for Sunday through July 4 at Legion Keener Park, with a 10:30 a.m. parade through downtown Latrobe and a 10 p.m. fireworks display highlighting the final day.
