Route 119 ramp to close for repairs in New Stanton
Motorists headed south on Route 119 from Youngwood toward Uniontown will encounter a short detour beginning Monday in New Stanton.
PennDOT announced it will close for repairs a ramp and exit drivers normally use to continue south on Route 119. The ramp — at the interchange with the Toll 66 bypass — is expected to remain closed for about a month while crews complete concrete patching.
A marked detour will direct traffic to continue onto Interstate 70 westbound, take the New Stanton exit and return eastbound on I-70, exiting via the ramp to Route 119 southbound.
The work also will involve a lane closure where Route 66 southbound meets Route 119 southbound. There will be intermittent restrictions between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., as needed, on Route 119 southbound.
The patching is part of a $3 million project by Golden Triangle Construction Company to reconstruct portions of two ramps and to patch two other ramps at the interchange. PennDOT also will patch a 600-foot section of Route 119 and will update lighting at the interchange.
Two bridges on ramps that span Sewickley Creek and a railroad line will be preserved, and an asphalt shoulder will be reconstructed to improve an acceleration lane along Route 119 northbound.
The PennDOT project will complement previous improvements the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission made to roadways it owns at the interchange.
