Gina Cerilli addresses a question from the crowd during a forum for candidates running for Westmoreland County Commissioner on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, at the Westmoreland County Community College’s Science Hall Auditorium.

Those attending Westmoreland’s 2020 State of the County luncheon will have an opportunity to hear from and question the three county commissioners on issues of interest to the business community.

The annual event will be held at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 9 at the Ramada by Wyndham Greensburg Hotel and Conference Center, 100 Ramada Inn Drive in Hempfield.

Slated to speak on expected challenges in the year ahead are newly elected Republican commissioners Doug Chew and Sean Kertes and re-elected Democratic incumbent Gina Cerilli. All three were sworn into office Thursday.

Cerilli is beginning her second four-year term as commissioner.

Kertes served as chief of staff to former Commissioner Charles Anderson, who retired this month.

Chew is a microbiologist who has worked as a grant writing consultant and was a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh.

The luncheon is presented by the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Growth Connection, the Industrial Development Corporation and local chambers of commerce from across the county.

The cost is $35 for chamber members and $50 for future members. Visit westmorelandchamber.com to register under “Upcoming Events.”
