REO Speedwagon rolls into The Palace Theatre in Greensburg on Dec. 6.

REO Speedwagon will roll into the The Palace Theatre in Greensburg for a show at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6.

Promoter pre-sale begins at 10 a.m. Thursday with the passcode “PALACE” via eventbrite.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday at thepalacetheatre.org.

Ticket prices range from $72.75 to $95.75.

“REO Speedwagon is a fantastic addition to our emerging 2021 lineup,” said April Kopas, CEO of Westmoreland Cultural Trust, which manages the theater. “Their tour sold out the theater in 2019 and, with everyone eager to get out and see live music once again, we are anticipating this show to be a sell-out as well.”

Formed in 1967 in Champaign, Ill., the band developed a following through the 1970s that led to significant commercial success throughout the 1980s.

The group’s best-selling 1980 album, “Hi Infidelity,” spurred that greater popularity, as REO switched from hard rock to a more pop-influenced brand of rock. “Hi Infidelity” became the top-selling rock album of 1981 on the strength of hits like “Keep On Loving You” and “Take It On the Run.”

The album spent 15 weeks in the No. 1 slot and has since earned the 10X Diamond Award from the Recording Industry Association of America for surpassing sales of 10 million units in the United States.

The Palace show is being billed as a 40th anniversary celebration of “Hi Infidelity.”

The band has released 16 studio albums, with the most recent being “Not So Silent Night … Christmas With REO Speedwagon” from 2009. In total, REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums around the globe.

Lead singer Kevin Cronin and band mates Bruce Hall on bass, Neal Doughty on keyboards, Dave Amato on guitar and Bryan Hitt on drums continue to tour worldwide, playing hits and fan favorites such as “In Your Letter,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Time For Me To Fly,” “Ridin’ the Storm Out” and “Roll With The Changes.”

“We are excited to begin welcoming back national touring shows to the region. We have already announced three new tours following the governor’s announcement to lift mitigation orders on Memorial Day and anticipate more shows to be announced in the next few weeks,” Kopas said.

The REO Speedwagon concert is presented by Drusky Entertainment and Kirschner Concerts.
