A 42-year-old woman was arrested late Tuesday by Murrysville police, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after, police say, she cut a man with a knife during an argument, according to court records.
Samantha Dawn Nichols of Mt. Pleasant was arrested after the 11 p.m. incident at the man’s residence in Murrysville on Carousel Drive, according to court documents.
The 49-year-old man was transported by Murrysville Medic One ambulance to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for treatment of a laceration on his right forearm and a puncture wound to his left hand, according to police Officer Matthew Mastorovich.
According to court documents, police were called to the residence for a report of an argument and were met at the door by the male victim “who had his left hand wrapped in a bloody dish towel.”
Before being taken by paramedics to the hospital, Mastorovich said the victim told police that he and Nichols had been drinking during the evening and got into a verbal argument that escalated.
Nichols told police that, during the argument, she retrieved a “small knife” from the kitchen and the victim was cut as the couple struggled over control of the knife.
According to court documents, the victim also told investigators in a separate interview he was cut as the pair struggled for the knife.
Nichols could not be reached for comment. An attorney was not listed in court documents.
On-line court dockets indicate that Nichols has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.
Nichols was released Wednesday on $50,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing March 2.
