Police: Hostetter couple charged in 'severe neglect' case
Two people are set to be arraigned Monday after state police said two children were found to be suffering from severe neglect, with a 2-year-old girl unable to walk or stand on her own, according to court papers.
Jordan S. Heidt, 27, and Heather M. Johnson, 31, both of Hostetter, were expected to surrender at district court. They are charged with two counts each of child endangerment and reckless endangerment.
Troopers received a ChildLine report in March about the two children, a 1-year-old boy and the 2-year-old girl. They were taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital after the Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau was notified of the neglect report.
Both of the children were found to have low muscle mass and their development had been delayed, according to court papers.
Troopers said both children were in the care of Heidt and Johnson prior to the neglect report. Neither suspect had an attorney in online court records. They could not be reached. Preliminary hearings are set for September.
