The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival has pushed back its 2020 opening date to Oct. 3. Here, jousters are seen at a previous festival on the South Huntingdon grounds.

The Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival has announced the postponement of opening day for this year’s festivities.

Originally scheduled to start its six-weekend run on Aug. 22, the festival now will open on Oct. 3, according to its Facebook page.

“Due to the current health concerns and taking into consideration the safety of our patrons and Renaissance community, the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival will be postponing its 2020 opening day,” the post says. “Dates will be posted publicly on both our website and announced through our social media outlets.”

The post did not give information on the length of the festival’s 2020 run.

Produced by Rocky Mt. Festivals Inc., the festival features period entertainment including jousting and sword-fighting, along with stage shows, music, arts and crafts, comedy and food booths on its South Huntingdon grounds.
