Submissions are being sought for the fourth annual Art Show @ Pitt-Greensburg, opening Sept. 25 as part of the 2020 Blue & Gold Celebration at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Shown are works from the 2019 show.

Amateur and professional artists are invited to submit work for the fourth annual Art Show @ Pitt-Greensburg, taking place Sept. 25-Oct. 8 in conjunction with the 2020 Blue & Gold Celebration at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

The exhibit will be available for viewing during normal operating hours at Millstein Library on the Hempfield campus. A public reception is planned for 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 8.

Plans also are being developed to present the work as a virtual exhibition, should the situation merit it.

Some works will be available for purchase.

“Building off of last year’s success, we are continuing to offer two categories for submission,” said Julia Sefcheck, alumni engagement officer and event chair. “Artists can register in the judged category or the general category.”

The general category provides a venue for artists of all experience levels from Pitt and surrounding communities to share their work in mediums including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, digital art/graphic art and other.

From these pieces, three will be named “fan favorites” and awarded prizes. Winners will be chosen based on a fan-favorite voting throughout the show.

Artists will be assessed an entry fee of $5 per piece, plus a $1 processing fee, at the time of registration. There is no limit to the number of pieces an artist can register in the general category.

The judged category allows artists to submit up to five current pieces to be evaluated for special recognition by three judges. The top vote-getter in each category will be awarded a prize. Pieces receiving the second and third highest scores in each category will receive a certificate.

Artwork may be submitted in the judged category in the following formats: painting, drawing, photography and mixed media. Entry fee is $10 per piece, plus a $1 processing fee, at the time of registration.

Works entered into either category must be original and should date from 2016 to the present. While two-dimensional pieces are preferred, small three-dimensional pieces will be accepted if they meet dimensional and weight limitations.

Registration closes Sept. 16 and delivery dates will be Sept. 16-17 and 21-22.
