PlayLive!, a new online gambling site, launched prior to the opening of a casino at Westmoreland Mall.

A new online gaming site will give a “sneak peek” into two casinos being built on opposite ends of Pennsylvania, including one under construction at Westmoreland Mall.

PlayLive!, which launched this week, features more than 100 gaming options, including classic slots and table games, along with online-only titles and jackpot games. It was developed in partnership with Maryland-based Cordish Gaming Group, a division of The Cordish Companies, and London-based GAN Limited, a supplier of internet gambling software.

“As a leader in the gaming industry, Cordish understands the importance of innovation and this site certainly illustrates our ability to enhance the traditional launch timeline of our new casino projects,” said Rob Norton, president of Cordish Gaming Group. He added, “(We) know that PlayLive! will enable us to connect with guests virtually until we can greet them physically.”

The Cordish Companies are developing Live! Casino Pittsburgh located at the Hempfield mall and Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. The Hempfield location is expected to open before Thanksgiving with 750 slot machines and 30 table games along with dining and entertainment options.

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia is being built in the South Philadelphia Stadium District and is expected to open next year. The 1.5 million-square-foot facility will feature 2,200 slot machines, more than 150 table games, a sportsbook, dining and entertainment venues and a 12-story hotel with more than 200 rooms.

Games on PlayLive! are configured as they would be at those physical properties. Online gaming sites have seen a renewed surge after all 989 U.S. brick and mortar casinos closed their doors in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the American Gaming Association.

Internet gaming broke revenue records during the first half of the year compared to 2019. Online gaming grew almost 190% in 2020 compared to the same period last year, AGA reported.

In Pennsylvania, online casino games grossed more than $54.3 million in July, 8.58% higher than online gaming revenues in June, the state Gaming Control Board reported.

PlayLive!, which is accessible on desktop and mobile, will also serve as a future hub where Pennsylvania residents can register for a customer loyalty program that allows members to qualify for benefits and perks and Live! Casino properties.

“The site will definitely build buzz and excitement for what’s to come in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia soon,” Norton said.
