“I didn’t expect that.”

That was the reaction of Ed Korinko of Manor when his cold cast bronze sculpture, “Bald Eagle,” was named Best in Show in “Art Neighbors,” the annual joint exhibition presented by the Greensburg and Latrobe art centers.

Awards were announced during a July 8 reception at Latrobe Art Center, which is hosting this year’s show.

The recognition was the result of a long process of honing his talent, Korinko said.

“People ask, ‘How long did it take you to make that?,’ and I say, ‘45 years,’” he said.

The show, running through July 31, features works by 57 artists who are members of either or both art centers. The centers take turns hosting in alternate years.

Show committee members Joe Bellack and Sarah Hunter also announced these awards:

• First place: “More Apples!,” painting by Betty Trout

• Second place: “God is Listening,” photo by Suzanne Panchura

• Third place: “Americana,” painting by Patricia Dickun

• Honorable mentions: “Erie Idyll,” by Susan Pollins; “Flourish,” by Sarah Hunter; “Their Fallen Comrade,” by Jerry Scorpion; and “Living Water,” by Debbie King.
