Fayette County man killed in Rostraver crash
A 32-year-old Fayette County man was killed Thursday when his pickup truck collided into the rear of a garbage truck on Route 51 in Rostraver, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha.
Donald J. Schultz , who lives in nearby Washington Township, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:45 a.m. crash along Route 51 near Gallitin Road by deputy coroner Brian Zimmerman.
The coroner’s office ruled that Schultz died of multiple blunt force injuries and ruled it accidental.
Bacha said Schultz, was the operator and only occupant of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado traveling north on the highway when a 2001 Peterbilt truck, adapted as a flat-roll off sanitation truck, exited a business on the east side of the roadway and entered the highway.
Reports said Schultz’s truck collided with the rear of the sanitation truck. Bacha’s office said Schultz was wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the sanitation truck, who was not identified in reports, was not injured, authorities reported.
Rostraver Police also investigated the crash.
Eley-McCrory Funeral Home in Fayette City is in charge of arrangements.
