The Norwin School Board is seeking candidates who want to fill the remainder of the term of a school director who died last week.

The school board Monday authorized an advertisement seeking candidates interested in serving the remainder of Joanna Jordan’s term, which was to end the first Monday of December.

Jordan, 75, of Irwin, did not seek re-election this year to a second term on the school board.

The panel will hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28 to interview the candidates, then vote on a replacement, said board President Darlene Ciocca. That person must get the support of at least five board members.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen who has lived in the district for at least one year, be without a criminal record of any felony offense or misdemeanor involving dishonesty or other “moral turpitude,” according to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
