Another store is set to close at Westmoreland Mall.
New York & Company is the latest clothing store to announce its closure this year at the Hempfield mall. An exact date has not been set, but a store manager confirmed it will shutter by the end of January.
The mall, while set to receive a new mini casino next summer in the former Bon-Ton space, has had myriad of closures including Sears, which closed March 17; Charlotte Russe; Helzberg Diamonds, which closed March 24; Gymboree; Payless ShoeSource and Dressbarn. Verizon Wireless and Sleep Number were added to that list in July.
Bon-Ton closed its doors last August, and mall officials have been working since April on removing store items to make way for the casino.
Work on the the 100,000-square-foot casino dubbed “Live! Casino Pittsburgh” will begin Nov. 13. Earlier this month Stacey Keating, spokesperson for CBL Properties — the entity that owns Westmoreland and Monroeville malls — said the casino will spur development and encourage people to spend time at Westmoreland Mall.
