State police arrested Herminie motorcyclist after 10-mile chase Wednesday through Hempfield.

A Herminie motorcyclist figured he had eluded state police during a 10-mile, high-speed pursuit through Hempfield only to arrive home and find a trooper waiting for him, according to court documents.

Tyler N. Trouerbach, 23, led state police on a chase that began about 7 p.m. Wednesday along Route 30 westbound near the Route 119 entrance, where he was initially clocked driving at 94 mph, police said. The pursuit continued on busy Route 30 to North Greengate Road, Hempfield Point Road, through several store parking lots and then returned to Route 30 eastbound before the chase was called off when police lost sight of him.

Trouerbach was weaving in and out of traffic, ran through steady red traffic signals and almost struck a patrol car in the parking lot of Home Depot in an attempt to avoid arrest, Trooper Tony Anthony said.

During the chase, troopers were able to obtain Trouerbach’s home address, in the 500 block of Church Street, through an expired registration plate he had attached to his Yamaha motorcycle. Anthony went to the residence to wait.

“I observed (Trouerbach) turn off Sixth Street, onto Church Street … as he quickly pulled into the garage and began to shut the garage door to hide,” Anthony wrote in court documents.

Anthony reported he heard Trouerbach mutter an expletive when he saw the trooper pull his patrol car into the driveway and physically stopped the garage door from closing. Anthony then placed Trouerbach under arrest.

Trouerbach was arraigned before Night Court Judge Wayne Gongaware and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

He is charged with fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with obscured registration plates, failing to stop at traffic signals, exceeding the 55 mph speed limit by at least 39 mph, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled April 26 before Hempfield District Judge Mark Mansour.
