Person injured in crash in North Huntington

An overnight car crash in North Huntington injured one person and caused a power outage in the area.

The crash occurred around 11:45 p.m. at Turner Valley Road and Sycamore Drive, news partner WPXI reported. Officials said one person was trapped but was extricated and transported to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries was not known Wednesday morning.

West Penn Power told Channel 11 that 866 people were without power at 4:15 a.m. Power was fully restored to all customers by 5:25 a.m., according to the company’s website.

Fort Pitt Tunnel restrictions overnight

PennDOT is restricting motor-vehicle traffic on the inbound/eastbound Parkway East through Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh Wednesday night.

A single-lane restriction will occur in the inbound Fort Pitt Tunnel from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night through 5 a.m. Thursday morning as crews conduct camera repair work, PennDOT said.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

Project Prom giveaway coming up

Allegheny County Department of Human Services is getting ready to hold its annual Project Prom giveaway of prom attire for eligible high school students.

The gown giveaway kickoff begins on Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Project Prom Shop, 10 Duff Road, Penn Hills. The gown giveaway continues Monday, March 27, from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 30, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Guests must register in advance for an available time slot and are asked to bring only one friend or family member to accompany them.

To be part of Project Prom, high school students must live in Allegheny County and qualify for a free or reduced school lunch. A student is also eligible if a household member is on active military duty or a veteran.

There will be an assortment of free, currently-styled dresses of all sizes and colors available. Teens will be able to select from brand-new and gently used gowns. Dresses have been made available thanks to donations from residents, local dress shops One Enchanted Evening in Zelienople and DressHaute at South Hills Village, and online store Sydney’s Closet. There will also be a selection of shoes and accessories to accompany the dresses.

Fresh International Market coming to Pittsburgh

The grocery store chain Fresh International Market will open a store in Pittsburgh’s North Point Breeze neighborhood in the Rockwell Park innovation district.

Founded in East Lansing, Michigan, and with locations around the country, the market features international ingredients and Asian cuisine, the market’s 23,000 square foot store will occupy the entire Apollo building.

“We are thrilled to welcome Fresh International Market to Rockwell Park and the North Point Breeze community,” Rockwell Park Principal Al Lardoshares said. “This new store will be a fantastic addition to the city’s vibrant food scene. The store’s unique selection of international ingredients and prepared meals will provide greater convenience and comfort for local residents.”
