Two-alarm fire in Elizabeth Borough
Crews battled a two-alarm structure fire early Friday in Elizabeth Borough.
The fire was reported at about 5:10 a.m. along South Third Avenue, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
No injuries were reported.
Crews fought the blaze for more than an hour.
An investigation on the cause is underway.
Arson suspected in Pittsburgh’s Manchester section
Arson investigators have been called after crews battled a fire early Friday in Pittsburgh’s Manchester neighborhood.
Emergency crews were called at about 4:40 a.m. to the blaze, which engulfed a multi-story vacant building in the 1400 block of North Franklin Street, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Multiple departments responded to the blaze near the West End Bridge.
As of 7 a.m., motorists were being advised to avoid the area. Chateau Street is closed between Liverpool and Rush streets, as are some other side streets.
Break-in reported at Monroeville pizza shop
Monroeville police are investigating a break-in at a pizza shop early Thursday.
The theft happened at about 2 a.m. at Fox’s Pizza Den on Old William Penn Highway, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Store manager Trent Krentz told WTAE that someone threw a rock through a window and tried to take money from the cash register but got only a few dollars.
“This is actually the third time this plaza has gotten broken into in a year now,” Krentz said.
Virtual learning day at Sto-Rox
Sto-Rox Junior Senior High will have a virtual learning day Friday after an odor was detected in the athletic/music wing of the school.
No gas was detected by Columbia Gas during an inspection, Principal Raelyn Day said in a post on the district’s website.
“However, in order to ensure the well-being of our Jr./Sr. High School students and staff, we have decided to conduct virtual learning for students in grades 7-12,” the post read.
Students should follow their regular schedule. Teachers will provide instruction for each class virtually using Google Meet.
Theft investigated at Westmoreland Mall
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a Dec. 7 theft from JD Sports at Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield.
Police said the incident happened just before 5 p.m. when two women grabbed a bunch of clothes and stuffed them in a bag. They were approached by a manager but left without paying, police said.

Authorities said the total loss was about $1,355.
The suspects were caught on surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
