Police: Pat-down of Monessen man yields nearly 2 bricks of heroin

Monessen police said while performing a pat-down on a man being evicted from a house Saturday they discovered about two bricks of heroin tucked inside of one of his jacket pockets.

David D. Jeffries, 28, of Monessen, was arrested on charges of manufacturing, delivery and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before District Judge Mark Mansour and ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $50,000 bond.

Officer Brian Mickens reported police were called by a woman about 6 p.m. Saturday asking for help removing Jeffries from her house.

When police arrived at the residence on the 200 block of Oneida Street, they discovered Jeffries was inside packing his belongings.

After police discovered he had an outstanding bench warrant, officers took Jeffries into custody and performed a routine pat-down. Mickens said police found 91 stamp bags of suspected heroin inside a blue bag in the jacket he was wearing, two cell phones in his pants pockets and $245.
