A couple is facing felony charges after a 2-year-old overdosed from cocaine and fentanyl in Monessen.
According to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office, Monessen police reported to a home on Oct. 4 after receiving reports of a child overdosing.
Police said they interviewed Sable Ford, 36, and Travis Holmes, who allegedly told police the child found a baggie in the front yard and put the baggie in its mouth. After the child started showing symptoms of an overdose and went limp, the two took the child to the hospital.
The child was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for further treatment and tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl upon arrival, according to police.
Police said they found blue glassine baggies, a smoking pipe, two stamp bags, a scale, several other small baggies with a powder residue and a case of THC cartridges when searching the home. A field test of the white residue allegedly identified the substance as cocaine, police said.
Ford and Holmes are both facing charges of endangering the welfare of children, criminal conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with bail set at $50,000.
According to court dockets, both are being held in Westmoreland County Prison. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled Dec. 5 in front of District Judge Wayne Vlasic.
