Harrison Park Elementary School in Penn-Trafford School District closed until Monday due to covid
Harrison Park Elementary School in the Penn-Trafford School District will be closed until Monday due to two active covid cases in the building, according to a statement from Superintendent Matthew Harris.
Students will learn from home Thursday and Friday.
One student and one staff member tested positive for coronavirus within the last two weeks. The student case was reported Wednesday evening.
The decision to close the school was made in accordance with guidelines from the state Department of Health and Department of Education, according to Harris.
Harrison Park Elementary School has seen a total of eight covid cases since the start of the school year — five among students and three among staff.
The district as a whole has seen 122 total covid cases, five of which were reported within the last two weeks.
This is the 13th pandemic-related closure among the district’s eight buildings this school year.
Students at all district schools have the option to learn remotely. Most district schools primarily are conducting in-person instruction, with the exception of the high school, which is using a hybrid option.
