Man accused of sexually assaulting teen at Keystone State Park
A 41-year-old Honduran man is being held without bond in the Westmoreland County Prison after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl while swimming at Keystone State Park in Derry Township.
Noe Ivan Soto Alvarez, who lists a local address in Braddock, Allegheny County, was arrested by state police for indecent assault after the alleged incident on July 19.
Trooper Ty Smith said the victim and Alvarez were swimming in the beach area with separate groups when the teenage girl slipped off an inflatable raft. She said Alvarez then grabbed and sexually assaulted her.
The teenager reported the incident to her parents, who called a state park ranger, who telephoned troopers.
Smith said in court documents the teenager and witnesses identified Alvarez after he was questioned at the scene.
According to court papers, Smith said Alvarez could not provide documentation that he was in the U.S. legally and U.S. immigration authorities asked that Alvarez be detained for further investigation. District Judge Mark Bilik last week ordered Alvarez held in the county prison without bond, noting in court documents that he is considered a flight risk. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday.
