Ligonier Valley police are seeking help to identify three people who broke into the Hanson Aggregates Latrobe Asphalt plant during the weekend.
Police Sgt. James Friscarella said investigators believe two men and a woman vandalized buildings there and stole a tool and charger sometime between Friday and Saturday. The plant is off Route 30 in Ligonier Township.
Workers noticed the damage Monday and provided police with photographs of the suspects at the stone quarry. Evidence will be sent away for fingerprint testing.
“We’re hoping that the general public will see these pictures and will be able to provide us with information on who these people are,” Friscarella said, adding that the identity of anyone who provides information can remain anonymous.
The suspects rummaged through buildings, broke windows and kicked in a door, among other damage, he said. Workers are still taking inventory.
There are plenty of dangers at the site that could lead to injuries for those who trespass on the property, Friscarella said. No trespassing signs and fencing should warn the curious or potential vandals that it’s not a safe place to be.
“We’re trying to deter people from going up there at night,” he said.
Anyone who has information about the people in the photos is asked to call Ligonier Valley police at 724-238-5105.
