Photos portraying the Ligonier Valley throughout the year are being sought for the 2022 Ligonier Valley Calendar Contest, sponsored by Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Submissions can be photos taken in any season and should be easily recognizable as being taken in the Ligonier Valley. Subjects can include landscapes, special events, landmarks, historical buildings, nature, wildlife and other sights.

While amateur photographers are especially encouraged to participate, professional photographers also are welcome, chamber Executive Director Amy Beitel said. Drone photography is permitted.

“There’s not a specific parameter on a map for what makes up the Ligonier Valley, but I often think of it as anywhere within the (Ligonier Valley) school district,” Beitel said. “It just has to be a scene that is recognizable and associated with Ligonier.”

The contest has been an annual tradition since at least the mid-1980s, she added.

Contest guidelines:

• All entries must be submitted as high-quality photos or high-quality digital photos on CD or flash drive.

• All submitted photos must be labeled with the photographer’s name, address and phone number. All CDs must have the photographer’s name, address and phone number on the disk.

• All submissions must be in color and in a horizontal format. No black and white photos will be accepted.

• Watermark on a photo may disqualify the entry.

Submission deadline is July 23. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges and notified no later than Aug. 13.

Winning photos will be featured in the 2022 chamber calendar and in various chamber publications. Winners will receive a $25 cash prize and a 2022 calendar for each photo selected.

The chamber reserves the non-exclusive right to use any submitted photograph in its marketing projects.
