Latrobe nonprofit plans week-long virtual auction, wellness series
Latrobe-based nonprofit Laurel Faith in Action is inviting area residents to take a break from the heat outside to join in a virtual Fun in the Sun online auction.
Set for Monday through July 23, the fundraising event includes about 50 items up for bid. Participants also can check out daily activities as well as video presentations from medical professionals on wellness topics and pet care.
With pandemic concerns not completely over, “This is in place of our usual community fundraiser,” said Taylor Kilmer, marketing director for the organization. “It really is for everyone, with prizes that will appeal to all ages.
“A lot of people aren’t going on trips this year, but you can have fun and still be healthy.”
The auction and presentations can be accessed by visiting Laurel Faith in Action’s website, at laurelfia.org, and selecting the “Events Page.”
Auction items include: a basket of items from DeLallo Foods; a basket of pet products; signed posters from “Star Wars,” “Game of Thrones” and “Avengers: Endgame”; and a collectible flag relating to local golfing legend Arnold Palmer.
An interfaith service organization, Laurel Faith in Action provides a mutually beneficial match of aging area residents who may feel isolated or need assistance with volunteers who can help with tasks like grocery shopping and yard chores.
