Some kids picked their pumpkins from the pool instead of from a patch during the annual Fall Fest at the Greensburg YMCA. One of the popular activities during the free evening of fun for families was “fishing” for pumpkins. Kids were encouraged to decorate their pumpkins after either selecting them from a trough or plunging into the Y’s indoor swimming pool to grab hold of one of the gourds.
The public event on Oct. 13, which is meant to introduce families to the Y’s facilities and programs, also featured games, music, a bounce house and face painting. Those attending also had a chance to check out one of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department’s pumper trucks and the firefighting equipment stowed on board.
The Fall Fest kicks off a series of similar Family Fun Nights, featuring swimming and other activities, that will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Friday of each month through March. Admission for each of the additional family events is free for Y members, with a $5 charge for others. Visit greensburgymca.org or call 724-834-0150 for more information.
