University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will host its 23rd annual Children’s Literature Conference Friday, inviting librarians and educators to spend a day learning more about what gets kids reading.

There are two featured speakers this year.

Ellen Oh will kick off the conference at 8:30 a.m. Friday. She’s the co-founder of the nonprofit We Need Diverse Books, and an author of young-adult novels.

Jonathan Gottschall will close the conference at 2 p.m. He’s a distinguished fellow in the English department at Washington & Jefferson College, and has several several books of scholarship and memoir.

Between the two keynote speakers, breakout sessions will cover topics such as children and e-books, and techniques for getting children interested in reading.

A book signing will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The conference starts at 8:15 a.m. at the university’s Ferguson Theater in Smith Hall.

Attendees can register on the university’s website for $80.
