A Hempfield man died when his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle Saturday night on Route 30 in Irwin.
Irwin police said Glenn W. Hauliska Jr., 54, was killed upon impact when his westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle struck the driver’s side of a Jeep Patriot at about 9 p.m., just east of Ash Street.
The driver of the Jeep, Kendrick Koschak, 19, of Irwin, was taken by ambulance to Forbes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
According to police, Koschak’s Jeep drove into the path of Hauliska’s motorcycle while exiting a Pizza Barn parking lot and attempting to turn left onto eastbound Route 30.
Hauliska applied his brakes but was unable to stop and was thrown from the motorcycle, police said.
Hauliska was wearing a helmet, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s office.
The Jeep flipped onto its roof and came to rest in the middle of the road.
Irwin police are continuing their investigation. State police helped to reconstruct the crash.
