Interstate 70 work will restrict eastbound traffic near Yukon
Eastbound traffic on Interstate 70 will be restricted to a single lane Friday near the Yukon and Madison interchanges in South Huntingdon and Sewickley townships.
PennDOT officials said the restriction will be in place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., depending on favorable weather.
It will allow crews from Trumbull Corp. to conduct grouting operations and rock placement.
PennDOT has been working for a number of years on a series of improvements to the I-70 corridor between New Stanton and the West Virginia border.
The state expects to spend about $93 million on the current project that involves reconstruction of both the Yukon and Madison interchanges and improvement of the section of the interstate that runs between them.
Those improvements include lengthened acceleration and deceleration lanes at the interchanges, a new eastbound auxiliary lane between the two exits, a widened median and shoulders and replacement of four bridges and a culvert.
